Ismael Vantour Causse was born in Santiago de Cuba in 1947.
An artist of great talent and creativity, he is a painter, an engraver and a musician (he plays trumpet in the Cuban National Orchestra).
He invented a printing technique, called “colagraphy”, which is unique to the artist. It is an additive technique of engraving, which consists of adding collage within the preparation of the intaglio / drawing (in case of lithograph), by which medium the artist is able to enrich the finished work with magnificent reliefs and effects. All those collage elements need a special cohesion and strength in order to achieve multiple production of the “image” without damaging the steel plaque / stone from which engraving/ lithograph is produced.
