Carmen Corona was born in Mexico City in 1934. In spite of being brought up in a cultural and artistic environment, she worked as an auditor before dedicating herself to painting. In 1973, she joined La Esmeralda School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving and took classes at the open workshop with Tomás Parra and Manuel Suasneve. From 1975 to 1977, armen studied at the drawing workshop with Gilberto Aceves Navarro and the painting workshop with Tomás Parra at the National School of Plastic Arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. In 1978, she took classes at the painting workshop of Robin and Marta Bond. In 1980, Carmen became part of the painting group of Brigitte Loire and studied engraving with Rosario Gutiérrez and others.
